Looking back at the things I wrote here... All I ever wanted is to share me joy with someone. It's so easy to say "live for yourself". It's merely an escape, to abscond from all ties. I'd love to see how an asexual community strive. Insignificant blob of amoebas! I've been searching for a meaning to life way before most people of my age even had their first taste of detachment. Wanting to kill myself and wishing I was dead at a mere age of 7 seems like a joke? So don't tell me how to live to my life and on the other hand telling me I should be myself.

So I may have fallen during a leap of faith but as Amy Laura Hall put it, one can live meaningfully (free of despair and anxiety) in an unconditional commitment to something finite, and devotes that meaningful life to the commitment, despite the vulnerability inherent to doing so.

I loved you for who you are. I accepted everything because it was unconditional. But you all just left... Honestly, was I ever loved for who I am?

We're all so caught up in the rat race to have a gap year... experience life... bet most locals never heard about it anyway and what awaits them... it's all about money, social status....... lalalalalalalalala

I don't belong in this world perhaps.
My point is, it's not all about money so that you can live a life of luxury. Being high up there to look down on others.
Use the money for a meaningful life. Be up there in a position where you're respected, and use it to influence others and live as one.
NOT bum around and do not have a care in the world like a hippy.
How often do we hear from our teachers, parents, etc whenever we fail in school, that we're useless beings with no future. That we'll be stuck in an perpetual struggle to survive. That alone will subconsciously nurse self-centeredness into our mind. And the competition begins...
Even compulsory community service... it's all for the grades.
I really don't belong...

Bottom line - Work even harder to make a change for everyone. Sacrifice your time to see how screwed up the world really is.

1998. I was supposed to be meeting you at Sentosa. Someone I've never met. I can't even remember your name now. We were to catch the leonids shower.

Once I got there, my phone failed on me. Infact, the entire mobile network was down. I managed to get you on a public phone, but there was no way for me to identify you in the crowd.

So I strolled around, caught nothing in the sky and went home. It was as packed as Zouk Out, but no cab! Argh... Walked all the way out from the beach till somewhere along Alexandar... What a night... lonely night.

Yes, it's Sigapore!!

Guess there won't be any pictures for awhile. Slow internet speed coupled with major blocking of sites.

So...

- Circled the airspace around Beijing because of communications breakdown... going to land already then suddenly full thrust and climb again.
- Major jam in Beijing so had to alight midway and walk to the train station. Surprisingly, old grannies walk faster than us, and half of the people are running!
- Slept on the upper deck of a triple deck cabin in the train. No space to roll... no space to even sit up.
- There are no traffic lights at cross junctions! Crossing the road is scary.
- I'd rather stay in Tekong than the room here...
- Major social websites are banned!

Positive side?

- Dirty air = big big booger!!!!
- Cheap cab fare... cheaper than taking a bus in Singapore. Thrilling too... You see oncoming traffic right in front of you every now and then
- KFC egg tarts!

Time for bed!

14th June - Sunday

So... we reached home after dusk, probably ate some indomie like every other day. Woke on late on a lazy Sunday afternoon and it's time for another road-trip! Lake Entrance is situated towards the east of Melbourne, approximately 4 hours' drive away. The name is derived from the geographical landscape of that area. A small opening between a huge lake and the ocean... Just refer to the photo below!

As the sky gets dark just after 5pm, we were already driving in the night in just a short moment after departure. Grabbed our dinner at Subway somewhere at the mid-point. The entire place is manned by only 1 guy! Really underpopulated area.

A rather uneventful drive there. The first landmark we encountered at Lake Entrance is a resort known as 'The Esplanade'!! Without much deliberation, we registered at the reception. Like Port Campbell, this place is eerily quiet at night. No cars, not a single living soul on the street. Just rows of shop-houses facing fleets of boats bobbing up and down the waters opposite. The entire town can be covered in under 10 minutes of driving. Just 2 main streets running parallel upfront and branching roads leading uphill to the residential area.

Back to the resort. An introductory video can be found here! Lovely self-contained apartment. You get a living room, kitchen, 2 bedrooms with balcony and jacuzzi bath-tub for AUD$220 a night. As the town is pretty much dead, we idle around in the apartment. Eating cup-noodles in temperate climate sure is uplifting.

15th June

When in Rome, do as the Romans do. At Lake Entrance, you do nothing! Woke up too late for fishing. Lousy horse scared of rain. Boat rental booth closed... This one is hilarious. At the back of our resort, you can rent a boat without a license and there are a few coloured booths along the water edge. So we went to the first one, closed. Second one has a phone number for us to call if no one's around. And the third takes the cake. A sign was hung outside, asking us to go to back to the first one, even though all 3 appears to be operated by different company. How laid back can this place be!

We ended up playing 2 rounds of mini-golf! With the right company, anything can be fun, diplomatically speaking. The one with the highest score have to buy lunch! Thank you Jasmine! That concludes our stay at Lake Entrance. Oh... we stopped by a rest stop for star gazing!

Did you know that the local definition of 'Crayfish' is incorrect? The bbq-ed crustacean served in our local fare is known as 'Morton Bay Bugs'. On the contrary, the mini-lobster like thing is termed as 'Crayfish'. Therefore... Morton Bay Bugs = Dinner, which was settled in a restaurant with a cimmerian setting, somewhere in the city. I had a slab of wagyu steak! 350g for less than AUD$40! =p~~~

Next stop, Koko Black! A premium chocolatier akin to Godiva, even better as they serve dark sinful dessert! I 'stole' their menu back as a souvenir!

16th June

As the days go by, we're seeing lesser and lesser daylight. Early bird gets the worm, however early worm gets eaten. We're worms! Sleeping in is good!

There is a place in Melbourne where you can play with your food! A fully-licensed (I have no idea why eateries here are so regimental to declare they are fully licensed) restaurant by the name of Tokyo Teppanyaki. (<-- Click!) In addition to the display of culinary skills prevalent in most teppanyaki restaurants, you get the opportunity to make a mess out of your food. You have eggs tossed into your mouth and catching your fried rice flipped through the air into a stack of bowls.

Went to Caulfield via train after dinner to catch up with a friend from my military unit. Took a tram back to Flinders Street, had our caffaine and hot chocolate fix at L'in Contro then walk all the way back home, which is at the other end of the city. (Flinders Street, adjacent to Swanston Street, being the start.) Swanton Street is our Orchard Road, the main street in the city.

Sigit caught this at Pancake Parlour from a retro-looking UFO catching machine with only 20 cents! Finally managed to put the rod between the holes after days of trying.

17th June

Who cares what went on in day time when it's Wicked night! Ok, we probably slept the day away. Late afternoon was spent at Harbourfront, a newly developed retail establishment. Not much people around and some shops are still under renovation. Bought most of our souvenirs here.

After a short break at home, we took a cab down to the Regent Theatre where Wicked is on. Wicked tells the story of a girl caught in an elaborate fabrication. An unconventional prequel to the 'Wizard of Oz'. Watch it to find out the truth! The wicked witch of the west is an amicable character, gravely misunderstood by everyone and framed by the Wizard. Her great sacrifice brought peace and serenity to Oz. Dorothy's just weird... for wearing a dead girl's shoes.

Last day in Melbourne... for me...
Here's a list of other things we did but I can't remember when for reminiscence's sake.

Went to pay a parking fine incurred by Jasmine. Also the day I forgot my jacket.

We had 2 home-cooked meals. Sigit prepared Nasi Goreng and baked potato. Barramundi by Jasmine. Boon and I just dumped some sausages in the oven glazed with honey and topped with some cheese. Yummy!

Ate Ramen for lunch in an alley. Huge radiator rods hanging overhead.

8th June

Last to board the plane! The departure gate already empty as we strolled down the wing of terminal one... Didn't have the time to explore the airport either.

Boon and I caught an Emirates flight to Melbourne. The plane was only 1/3 filled, despite tickets being sold out when we bought them a couple of months ago. What's so scary about swine flu!!

9th June

Here we are, at Tullamarine Airport on a Tuesday morning greeted by Sigit & Jasmine. After smoking in the breezy weather for a change, we went straight back to what will be our home for the next 10 days in Swanston Street.

That's Melbourne for you, from the balcony/smoking area. Trams running up and down the city with Melbourne University in the background.

We dumped our luggage and went out for breakfast nearby. Our meals were served by this bubly girl, like everywhere else. Went to RMIT after that to run some errands and it started raining... not to mention we're in T-shirt, jeans and slippers.

As per protocol for all our overseas trip, grocery shopping on the first day is essential! That sums up our first day there. Stayed home, cook, eat, do schoolwork, play dota...

10th June

Another day spent at home. Had lunch at Redsilk, followed by yummy pancakes at Pancake Parlour. Won $85 on Roulette from my friends... indirectly, as everyone else lost in Crown.

I flew 7 hours to do schoolwork! =)

11th June

More schoolwork! Only this time Sigit joined in and completed his assignment. Went to St. Kilda beach at night to pee... and played a childhood game. Dinner was lamb and chicken and dough and dips. Greek food!

12th June

En route to the Great Ocean Road towards the west of Victoria, we had a stop-over at the Werribee Open Range Zoo. Toured the area on a wacky bus that opens from the side like some ice-cream truck. Saw some animals... then walked about. An Australian zoo without Koala and Wombat!! wtf!

Enough of animals... off we go! The Great Ocean Road is a span of coastal road covering over 200km with spectacular view of shore formations and the Antarctic Ocean. Native wildlife such as Koala, Wallaby, Wombat and Cockatoo can be spotted along the way. More often that not, you'll only end up seeing "Koala next 10km" signs only.

This is just one of the many scenic points. We stopped here to pee into the river, that runs into the ocean... and into the fishies' mouth... and onto your dinner plate...

We continued driving into the night with no destination in mind. The plan was to check into the first motel, hotel, log-cabin, etc we see once the time is 6.45pm... or 7.45.. can't remember.

Anyhoo, Port Campbell was next up. So we stayed in a quiet little coastal town with just a handful of residence of around 400. Checked in, followed by filling our stomach with lousy overpriced steak. We then drank the night away, playing Cluedo and a memory game. Too drunk to remember how the night went vividly, just some snippets here and there.
- We smoked outside topless, or probably less in near freezing temperature
- We all became retards.
- Someone kissed me... and that someone is not Jasmine!
- I thought I was gonna die after my chest starts to ache and had terrible cramp at my shoulder blade while sleeping.

Inside our room. Comes with a hall, 1 bedroom and no heater! @$%^ portable radiator that can't even warm my underwear.

13th June

Glad to be alive! Check out time was 10am, but that lazy bugger is no where to be found. 1 hour later, after breakfast, he's still not around! We just left the keys outside the reception house and left.

Back-tracked a little to visit the renowned 12 Apostles. They are just stump of rocks that were once part of the main land, but were eroded off by the perpetual waves throwing abuses at the cliff face. The process start off with the base being washed away, creating a cave-like feature. With time, and the right position, the cavity eventually breaks through forming an arc. At this magical moment, penguins will fly around the arc while chirping the 'London Bridge' song until the end where it will collapse, leaving u with an 'Apostle', also known as 'Piglet' in the past.

We flew around a bit in 2 helicopters. Sheep look like tiny marshmallow from up there. Penguins will line the shore spelling out S.O.S, or HELLO, whenever they feel like doing so.

Another place worth a visit is the blow hole. On our way back, we stopped by Apollo bay to satisfy our seafood cravings. Bye bye Great Ocean Road.

Boon & Quan went to town to rent a bike while waiting for the rest to sober up.

Found this padi place and decided to have brunch here before heading to the beach but service was too slow.

Before we were allowed to leave, we had to sit through a 10 minutes bitching session about how we should wait and enjoy see scenary (kuah simi? grass and scare crow?), listen to the music bla bla bla

We ate 'Zhi Char' here instead.

Quan's responsible for today's itinerary.

We settled at Petronas Quay for breakfast after making a detour as the Roti Canai wasn't open.

In Langkawi, the chicken taste like prawn!

To raise some funds for today's activities,

Boon tried to pimp Ken to Clarence with
Quan acting as the middleman.

However Quan continued sliding...

Boon got so ecstatic to know that he's still alive he began sodomizing a rock.

Went to Kuah to stock up for the nights to come!
Vodka, Johnnie Walker, Midori, Chivas, Strawberry Creme and some coffee liqueur.

Leaving Changi Airport! Quan sat on the right window seat, hoping to catch a glimpse of sunset!

Marshmallow clouds! That's Johor below us!

We had char siew wrap in the midst of the hour odd flight. Boon got all excited and rushed down the plane!! Trying to savage whatever little time we have left for the night (we reached at 8pm), we checked into Langkasuka Beach Resort, dumped our stuff, grab a van and headed out for dinner!

That's Quan in the driver seat! Say hello!!!

We stumbled upon good ol' Fei Ma while searching for Unkaizan. This marks the start of our seafood escapade!

Boon's suggesting he can lick sideways...

5 years of abstaining from Fei Ma, we gobbled up the dishes faster than the speed of light. The food's all gone while the shutter is being pressed.

I didn't know cameras could get drunk and shoot with double vision.

We bought some beers at a nearby mini-mart and went back to rest. Long days ahead! I think Ken, Boon and Quan took the van out for a spin instead, while drunk.

5 years on, we're heading back to Langkawi!

On the way to the airport!! Janice, Clar, Boon, Ken & Quan met up at Clementi MRT station and took the train! Janice & Clar started cam-whoring so we joined in!

Quan was going to record the entire taking off process till we're beyond the clouds... but unknowingly paused the recording halfway. =(
